Your Victorian Christmas tour of the Schlitz Mansion will begin in the reception hall that features embossed leather wainscoting and ceiling panels from the 1890s.
Join the Milwaukee District Garden Clubs and their members at the historic Schlitz Mansion on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025. Opened to the public for the first time during the holiday season, the Schlitz Mansion is decorated by its owners in the Victorian style.

John Sheaffer and Tim Baack purchased the Schlitz Mansion about 10 years ago. They have lovingly restored the 4,800-square-foot-plus mansion to its original splendor. John and Tim welcome us to their home and will be on site to answer questions about decor, renovations and history.

You'll begin your tour in the reception hall with original Lincrusta wainscoting and ceiling panels done by German craftsmen in the 1800s. The grand staircase is adorned with wreaths and ribbon garland. In the front parlor, the Christmas tree almost touches the 12-foot ceiling. Look for the feather tree decorated with antique ornaments and the shimmering icicle tree in the ladies parlor. There are 14 rooms to explore and you'll find a Christmas tree in most every one.

This is an unique opportunity to step inside a beautiful private residence and immerse yourself in the grandeur of a bygone era, all while supporting a worthy cause. Proceeds from th
is event will help support the Milwaukee District Garden Clubs Habitat for Humanity plant share project and various districtwide educational projects.
